You guys, I'm. So. Excited. It's Rat Queens  week.  I'll be honest--I know very little about comics. I mostly just know that I love them. But most of the ones I've read and loved, I discovered only because someone much wiser than me recommended it. And, of course,  Rat Queens   is no exception.

​I was lucky enough to receive the Deluxe Edition for Christmas,  and I totally devoured it. Then I talked about it non-stop to all the people kind enough to pretend to care (thanks, guys).  And, now, I'm just going to do what I do best--talk about it more. You're welcome. 

So, what is  Rat Queens? ​

Title: The Selection Series

The Flavor: The Hunger Games meets The Bachelor 

The Short Version: With all the drama of an episode of The Bachelor and all the excitement of your typical YA dystopian, this series totally rocked my socks off. 

The Description: In a post-war-torn United States (now called Illea), America Singer reluctantly enters a contest to win the hand of Prince Maxon. Along with 35 other young ladies, America travels to the castle, where she must deal with cat fights, back stabbing, jealousy, and trust issues. If it sounds like an episode of The Bachelor, well then, good. I’m describing it correctly. As opposed to the simple YA love triangle, this series goes all out and gives us TWO love triangles. A bit of political intrigue and talk of revolution keep things exciting.

The Flavor: American Gods meets The Hunger Games

The Short Version: The second book in Richelle Mead’s Age of X series is a pure delight. I finished the book as fast as humanly possible for a person with a four-month-old child in the middle of a cross-country move (meaning two days). Had I read this book five months ago, I would have stayed up all night to finish it. If you love badass heroines, epic world building, and a bad boy looking for some redemption, this book is a must.
