For Psych week, I'm dressing as one of my favorite characters in the series: the Blueberry. The Blueberry is Gus's car, and at first glance, it may appear as an odd choice. But the Blueberry is in almost every episode, and it's much beloved by the characters. I love the Blueberry so much that I bought a blue Honda Fit and called it Blueberry in homage (though I've also been asked if my car is Tardis Blue, so my car is pretty pleasing for all fandoms).
Also, as a lady, it's really hard for me to cosplay Shawn or Gus. Shawn looks like he walked straight out of an American Eagle ad, and Gus just wears men's business casual. Then there's Juliet, but she just wears suits everyday. And I don't have much use for suit wearing. I did consider cosplaying a pineapple, but finding a yellow dress in February is a Herculean task. So I landed squarely on the Blueberry, despite it being a car. I mean, this isn't unprecedented--there was that one time I dressed up as R2D2.
And it turns out, pulling together a Blueberry cosplay is pretty damn easy.

There's really only two requirements to dressing like the Blueberry:
Very simple. I own a blue dress, so that's what I picked out. But I think different shades of blue in a skirt and top would also be nice. I'm also not ruling out blue jeans as a legit option.
- Wear all blue
- Stick to black, silver, and white accessories

This is probably one of my favorite casual cosplay outfits, mostly because blue is one of my favorite colors. But is it recognizable? Would someone on the street say "come on, son" in recognition of our shared, spectacular taste in television? Probably not. I mean, I'm basically dressing up as a Toyota Echo, and how often do you ask people on the street if they're dressing up as a car?
So, no. This is not one of those cosplays that will be recognized. But it is one of those cosplays that makes me insanely happy, which is the whole point of casual cosplay. I mean, just look at these baller accessories.

There's a gd pineapple necklace. Which, I got on Amazon for $20, btw. I wore light blue shoes because I liked the idea of a completely blue outfit. But I also think black shoes (to simulate tires) would be an excellent touch.
So there you go--your casual Psych cosplay. As always, I encourage you to use items you already own to recreate your favorite characters. And don't be limited by the fact that your favorite character isn't a person. Casual cosplay is for you and you alone, so always do what makes you the happiest.

Post by Rachel Paxton. She drives a Blueberry, and today she looks like a blueberry, so you know it's going to be a good day for her. You can make it better by finding her on Twitter.
